Who We Are
Scouting America (formerly The Boy Scouts of America) was inspired by and modeled on The Boy Scouts Association, established by Robert Baden-Powell in Britain in 1910. In the early 1900s, several youth organizations were active, and many became part of the BSA. Later, the BSA created a “Senior Scout” division for boys 15 and older. The Senior Scout programs included the Sea Scouts, Air Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Rover Scouts, and a few others. Explorer Scouts focused on advanced camping and worked on advancement leading to the Ranger Award.
Scouting America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun.
Scouting America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society. Troop 20 has proudly been serving Boonsboro since 1927. We offer a variety of fun activities and adventures for scouts to enjoy. We believe strongly in character & skills building through high adventure.
We meet every Tuesday starting at 7pm. We meet at our Scout House in Shafer Park. The address is 33 Park Drive, Boonsboro, Maryland.
